Beware Raise.com Buying / Selling Gift Cards Scam

I bought a pricey gift card off of Raise.com since it was on sale at the time. I barely used it and decided to sell it back on Raise.com. The sale went through and everything seemed to be fine until a week later when Raise notified me that the card I sold was drained to zero before the buyer was able to use it. It’s still within the 100-day guarantee so I thought my purchase was covered but no - apparently if I buy the card from Raise.com and sell it again, the buyer’s protection does not apply anymore. This is really a scam at work here - and I’m left holding the bag. I called Raise.com support and after pleading my case he “agreed to review” it. I’m not sure if I’m going to get the original price I paid for the gift card back.

Be careful when buying or selling with Raise.com. Your card balances can go to zero after a few weeks. The cards you sold could be drained to zero and you’re left holding the bag even though it is possible that the seller that sold you the card or the seller before him probably drained it. It’s also possible that the buyer drained the card, called support and complained that the card had been drained. This should be treated as a criminal frauds case and I hope the investigators get to the bottom of this.
